Chalktoberfest: Chalk, Beer and Wine Festival

Over 100 National and International chalk artists, public chalk competition, beer festival, live music, and activities for the whole family.

Chalktoberfest, the signature event of the Marietta Museum of Art, will celebrate its 5th year in 2018.  Led by Executive Director, Sally Macaulay, Chalktoberfest has seen exponential growth over the years with over 100,000 attendees in 2017.  This unique event enables the Marietta Museum of Art to fulfill its mission of “Building Community through Art,” and the response from the community has been overwhelming.  In addition, Chalktoberfest has won numerous awards including Festival of the Year by Cobb Life Magazine for 2016 and 2017, the Mayor’s Art Award for the city of Marietta, and Event of the Year through Cobb Travel and Tourism.

In 2018, Chalktoberfest will feature artists from Italy, Macedonia, the Ukraine, the Netherlands, Mexico and 18 states in the United States.  The Marietta Square is transformed into a massive art studio where artists dazzle spectators from 10AM to 5PM during the two-day event. There will be a large number of award winning and established professional artists who bring the street to life with their large-scale paintings. In addition to the incredible art on the street, Chalktoberfest will have the Beer and Wine festival on Saturday October 13th. Tickets for this portion of the festival will go on sale August 1 starting at $35. Over 125 craft beers and 25 wines will be available for the tasting.

MCMA encourages guests to visit local restaurants, sample food trucks, visit antique cars, visit vendor tents and talk to professional artists from around the country as they create their masterpieces. Live musical fills the square day, and a special after-hours concert in the Park on Saturday will feature The Paul Hand band.

On Sunday October 14th beginning at 10AM, Chalktoberfest kicks off the Creative Kids Craft-Making Competition for children of all ages. It is a non-professional Chalk Competition with Youth, Teen, School, and Adult Divisions. Winners will be announced at 3:00PM. The professional chalk area will be available to view until 8:00 pm Sunday night.
